Okay, so, I tend to buy plain yogurt and put my own honey, jam, or whatever into it. But I bought a container of flavored yogurt.

I honestly don't remember them being as sweet as that. I had to cut it half-and-half with plain yogurt to make it not wince-worthy, and it was still on the high end of what I like for sweetness.

Have my tastebuds changed since I regularly bought flavored yogurt, say, five years ago or so, or have people started putting a LOT more sugar in?

My tastebuds definitely changed but I know that almost everything is also getting sweeter -- apples, sweetcorn, peas - so I wouldn't be shocked to learn they're breeding higher lactose content into the milk.

I don't know the answer, but I share your experience. I used to enjoy flavoured yoghurt and now find it unpleasantly sweet.

I don't think it's you. I wound up buying a quart of vanilla whole milk yogurt because the store was out of the plain, and it was too sweet. Normally, I mix jam, fruit, or lemon or lime juice into the plain yogurt, so that's a range of sweetness.

I do enjoy a flavoured yogurt for breakfast sometimes.

The Unindicted Co-Conspirator is at least honest about her yogurt preference. She prefers Greek yogurt, not too tangy, not with that yogurt aftertaste, OK, pudding. She likes pudding.

I alternate between plain yogurt (with a little maple syrup added) and vanilla yogurt. Both whole-milk organic.

The last time I ate a commercially fruit-flavored yogurt (in the hospital because it was the yogurt they provided), it was one of those disgusting "Light!" things that replaces the fat with with extra sugar AND acesulfame potassium. Yechhh. So *that* was nasty-sweet, but I don't know what industrial-"normal" currently is other than that.

Yeah, I can't do the flavored stuff at all! WAY too sweet!! I don't even sweeten my plain greek yogurt with honey or anything. Maybe some berries and nuts. Honestly, I prefer my yogurt to be very savory, with dill and feta and walnuts, but that's not exactly breakfast food.
