Lis and I have been watching THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E, the teevee show, not the movie. Because I'd never seen it before, although Lis has been a fan since her childhood. She watched in in syndication.

And I'm really enjoying it. But still... if you've got an organization which has agents who can steal, destroy, detain, and kill without repercussions anywhere in the world, with no oversight, are those really the good guys?

Given the nature of THRUSH, as portrayed in the show, UNCLE was the better actor. But yes, some of us who watched the show religiously questioned the ethics of Mr. Waverly's decisions.

I think you are making the mistake of judging the show based on 2015 rather than the cold war mentality of the early to mid 1960's. In an era of accepting James Bond, Flint in the In Like Flint movies, Dirty Harry, and the later Mission Impossible, an international organization with some sort of secret oversight is part of the norm.

In the third episode, Solo's communicator beeps with a call from Waverly, and Solo says, "Ah, Big Brother calls."

I have a feeling that they knew what they were doing.
