Yeah, I did something similar. Then got sidetracked trying to figure out what the OS on the first computer I really used was called. It was probably the Commodore PET/PAL, but wikipedia didn't really say what the OS was called. But I didn't really do much more than some basic programs on that, so dunno if that counts as "using an operating system". :-)
