(Um. growing up, I do not EVER remember seeing a car in a garage at our house. Garages are for boats, and random crap.)
When I was a kid, Grandad had a beach-house, that he lived in all summer long. Us kids got to go and stay sometimes. It was like a wooden bungalow, with a big garage beside; and yup, he had a car, and yup, the car lived outside in all the sand'n'stuff; because yup, the garage was full of boats. And fishing gear and so forth, but mostly boats. As far as I know, it's the only garage anyone in my family has ever owned. So yup, garages have always been for boats.
