Things Lost and/or Broken on the Trip

Thing LostHow it was LostHow Resolved
Ian's noise-canceling headphonesLis left them on the plane from Boston to LondonJust use regular earplugs, which we also had, to block out noises of screaming kids on airplanes.
A UK power converterIan plugged the transformer for the charger of his PalmPilot into it and it blew up.Didn't recharge Lis's cell phone 'till we got to mainland Europe.
The transformer for the charger of Ian's PalmPilotSee above.Don't use a PalmPilot for the trip.
The clasp on the chain that I put my wedding ring on so that I can wear it around my neck when my fingers are too arthritic to wear itIt, y'know, broke. It was just something we'd thrown together before we left, and the jump ring pulled apart. If we were at home, I'd have fixed it with my Leatherman, but you can't take those on planes with you anymore.Lis fixed it with a safety pin, instead.
The booklet that Lis put together with all the information that we needed for our days in London, including the hours for the attractions we wanted to see, relevant public transit, contact information for our hotel, and so forthLis left it in an Internet cafeWe improvised.
2 purity pointsNone of your business.
The cheap Casio digital watch Ian bought for the tripI don't know -- it was on my wrist when I told my sister that it was 2.38 in the morning, and we really ought to go to bed now, even though we were talking, and then, when I woke up in the morning, I was pretty sure that I had put it on my nightstand, but it just wasn't there. For the rest of the trip, keep asking Lis what time it is.
One deck of cardsI left it downstairs at the villa, and I guess my cousins must have used it, but, weirdly, when I looked at the deck of cards in the card box, someone had put a deck of Bratz-branded cards in it. Even if I had FOUND my cards, I'd have considered the box tainted, impure, and unusable.Use other deck of cards. C'mon, I buy the things in bulk -- of course I had an extra deck.
Lis's copy of Let's Go: Europe, which was the only guidebook we found with any useful-to-us information on TriesteWe lent it to Leila on our daytrip to Assisi, so she could have information on stuff there, and she accidentally left it in a restaurant.Grumble a lot
Ian's good sunglasses, which fit over regular glasses, and look totally dorky, but which keep my eyes from really, really hurting in sunlightThey vanishedBuy one of those cheap clippy-on things from a total thief of an optometrist who charged us €18 for the things
A pair of cheap clippy-on sunglassesClip brokeFind Ian's good sunglasses, which had actually fallen into a weird part of his bag, but weren't truly lost in the first place.
Our sunscreenVanished somewhere in RomeGet the half-bottle of Mom and Dad's sunscreen, since they were leaving Rome that day, anyway.
A half-bottle of Mom and Dad's sunscreenIt vanished.Resign selves to melanoma. And then find the stupid bottle again.
Ian's folding caneLeft behind in B&B in RomeMove with much more pain and exhaustion, and much less speed, for the rest of the trip.
Our Rick Steeves' Italian PhrasebookDisappeared somewhere in Rome.Communicate more poorly for the rest of the trip
Our tempersMultiple places, multiple timesOddly, no matter how often we lost our temper, we still HAD a temper afterward.
The booklet that Lis put together with all our travel information, flight numbers, reservation numbers, times, and many other necessary factsIt vanished. Maybe in a bookstore in Trieste? We stressed a lot, then improvised.
The train tickets from Trieste Centrale to Venezia Mestre that were Step 1 of our homeward bound tripI swear, I saw Lis put them into her bag. Neither of us has any idea why they weren't there.Buy replacement tickets. for €31 (€15.50 for each of us)
Ian's good sunglassesThe eyepiece snapped off while in my bag on the flight home.Laugh about it

Great list

But what was the resolution of those two lost purity points??

Wouldn't you like to know?

Did you guys join the mile high club?

Good to have you back.

Thank you for sharing that...I'm gleefully swiping the idea as a marvelous stress-reduction tool.

Yay on the purity points -- I'm sure you didn't really need them anyway.

Wow.

I'm quite interested in the purity points, too... my therapist says she can't do anything much about my troubles in that regard.

Remember that the phrasing is "sex, oral sex, or mutual masturbation". Lis still can't have sex.

Screen or delete comments if I get far out of line.

I understood, no idea from what, Lis couldn't *want* sex. Is this not so? If it was but is not, can I get there too?

Not for herself, but she has fun doing stuff to me, because I like it.

Ahh. That makes sense. Sadly, I am fine with wanting some, but actual sexual contact makes me sick.
