I was cleaning out the pantry, and I found the bottle of Tang-wine I tried to make a while back. Mix up Tang, wait for it to ferment (which it did), let it age.

I decanted it, and it looks like a urine sample.

But it doesn't taste anywhere near as good.

And how do you know what a urine sample tastes like? (BTW - I hope you threw it out!)

Eugh.

Strangely enough the post right below yours on my flist included the phrase "horrified fascination". Seems appropriate.

I had plenty of friends who made mead from Mt. Dew -- this went fine until someone's disgruntled SO decided to make up batches of clam juice-based and Windex-flavored mead instead... (Luckily, no one was hurt.)

I didn't know they made Tang anymore. :-)

Mebbe this wine was made back in the early '80's?

No, no, this managed to be this gross on only a few months.

There must be more enjoyable ways to loose IQ points. Like repeated high speed impacts to the head? Sniffing glue?

I thought that bottle looked like it was growing mold along the top. Certainly some kind of scum along the "water-line"

I can't believe you drank that!

So what have you done with it now that it's proven undrinkable? Dumped it? Dumped the contents but saved the bottle? Is it still sitting on our kitchen counter?

I love you, dear...

It's gone. I'm considering throwing some bleach down the drain after it. Or maybe thermite.

I didn't DRINK it. I TASTED it and spit it out.

Somehow, I am not surprised.

I love Tang, but I would never think of making wine from it. What does that say about you? Gotta admit, though, damned funny.

Remember my hard-cider experiment freshman year, and the nightmares it gave you until I threw it out?

Leave it another 6 months and see what happens.

But...but...Another 6 months and you might have invented a brand new rocket fuel!

I really have to stop getting recipes from the "Steve Don't Eat It" blog.

No, I doubt that, but it might have been a decent pesticide. It really tasted like the alcohol had long ago given up and left in disgust.
