Thanks for thinking of us. :) Being unable to marry a long-term partner, with whom I own a house and raise a child, has actually made it a little awkward for me when I go to weddings. Don't get me wrong: I love weddings and I am still happy for the couple. And I would like to be able to have public recognition of my family, with all that that entails both socially and legally. But weddings no longer feel like a semi-magic joining together. In so many ways I feel equally wed to Tessa as I do to Spike, although he and I did get married 10 or 11 years ago and she and I cannot do the same. And if we can feel that way without the ceremony (and presents! don't forget the presents! or the fancy clothes!) then it's difficult for me to get all excited about the ceremony.
