A question about our kitty

Why does our cat react to our dirty laundry as if it were catnip?

[identity profile] lietya.livejournal.com 2006-03-24 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
if you ever figure it out, let me know. I've been wondering that about one of ours.

Ours like the clean laundry more, we think - but the dirty stuff has its own allure.

I was once happily typing away, looked up, and saw one of my cats dragging one of my bras across the living room, straps trailing along behind him. I have no idea (um, don't think I wanna know, really) what she intended to do with it.

Er, and she is a she. Straps trailing along behind /her/.

If that's her in the icon, she's lovely. No, I'd imagine you'd rather not know! One of mine plays with bras, but so far only clean ones....

She wuvs woo.

Seriously, it's better than a cat who does obscene things with clothing etc. that smells like you. That's my cat: he, um, pleasures himself on my sweaters, blankets, you name it. Luckily he does not, um, ejaculate. yes, he's been "adjusted." He's just weird.

Not sure, but both Izzy and Baldric have a thing about laundry. Izzy likes to sleep in the dirty laundry, Baldric likes the stuff that has just come up from the dryer. I think he likes the static cling. He's kind of strange that way.

Oh, and they both dig my cycling socks right after I've gotten off the bike. These would be the same socks [livejournal.com profile] laereth doesn't want in the house.

I think he likes the static cling. He's kind of strange that way.

As opposed to the warmth because it's fresh from the dryer?

Mind, I'm not arguing with the concept that Baldric is strange enough to be after the static cling. Cats have truly alien hobbies, and he's a bit tweaked even for a cat. :)

Saffie the dog has been known to have a stash of my underwear in her bed. Like three or four pairs. It cracks me the hell up.

1. Laundry is a cat hobby. Mittens used to love to sleep in my dirty laundry when I was growing up.

2. Dirty laundry might be a cat hobby because it smells strongly of the cat's people, which is probably soothing.

I'm not sure, but dogs do it too! Charlotte rolls ecstatically in the place I've just vacated in the bed, and Winston steals my dirty underwear and eats the crotches out of them. It must smell MUCH better to them than it does to us.

Pheromones.

I once had a cat whose idea of nirvana was to wait until my then-SO stepped into the shower and then thrust her head deep into his sweaty, stinky sneaker and loll around on the floor purring and drooling.

Y'know, I dunno. [livejournal.com profile] freakydimension's cat loves to sniff and lick the insides of my sneakers, and he likes to nap on the pillow that one of us has just finished sleeping on.

Theo (that's the cat) also likes to come up on my shoulder and lick the gel off my hair. He's a strange one.

Maggie loves my sweaty gym clothes the best. She also likes to roll in the cat litter that she tosses out of the box. She plays with my shoes alot.

Face it, cats are weird but, we love 'em anyway.

It's your scent. It's like cuddling up next to the cat's mother.

[identity profile] sandramort.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Lucky. Mine thinks it's a litterbox.

Clarifying -- my dirty laundry only.

[identity profile] xiphias.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
She does that, too.
