Cool, okay. But local noon? Gak. To the extent that I can handle time at all, I can handle UT and military notation. I can even handle the existing time zones. But if I had to start trying to figure out local noon, I'd never get anywhere on time, or even within hailing distance of on time. Remeber, you're dealing here with someone whose internal time sense is pretty much limited to "now", "before now", and "after now".

My solution to daylight saving time is to have a world-wide referendum in which we choose whether to use daylight saving time permanently or never to use it again. Whichever got the most votes would be it. No more springing forward or falling back. We get the same number of hours of daylight no matter when we start counting, so let's just pick a time and stick with it.
