When Felis Sidus was taking care of Boopsie, she started giving her treats with her pill. So we pop her mouth open, drop the pill down her throat, and then give her cat treats to 1) have a positive association with the medicine, and 2) to make sure she swallows the pill.

The cat really likes the cat treats. She will now pester me to make sure to remember to give her her medicine so that she can get the treats. She doesn't mind us popping her mouth open and dropping a pill down her throat now, since she knows she gets kitty treats right afterward.

Good cat! It sure makes life easier when the cat begs for her pills. One of ours did that, too; she didn't get treats per se, but she got a spoonful of milk to force her to swallow, and she *loved* it. She was disappointed when the medicine ran out!

Gee I wish my cat were that cooperative when it comes to pills. The treats don't make a difference to him. However, he is better now when it comes to getting his claws clipped. He gets one treat per paw.

Our guys would do that for their subcutaneous fluids. We would feed them turkey while they got their fluids to keep them happy and standing still. They would camp out in front of the bathroom door waiting for it.
