It wasn't fingerprinting-- no ink. Googling says they're doing biometric finger scans, allegedly to prevent people from using half a multi-day ticket and then reselling it to somebody else. I also see references that these are incompetently done, that multiple people within a group have successfully swapped tickets around, so who knows...
