While hardwired smoke detectors are great, you might want to see if they have a battery backup. If they don't, and you have some kind of electrical fire that results from or results in your power going out, you'll still have working smoke detectors.
Plus, of course, if your power should go out for some other reason, you would still have the comfort of knowing the smoke detectors were on the job. This would be especially important because, when the power goes out, people tend to light more candles than they otherwise would.
