Fit as a fiddle, ready for love. . .
Dec. 22nd, 2002 11:19 pmToday was fun. A holiday open house party with one of Lis's former co-workers, which was a lot of fun, and then, after much phone tag and so forth, a movie!
We managed, finally, to connect with
teddywolf and
tigerbright about plans, and then we managed to connect with
undauntra.
Even better, when we got there,
lagaz was there too!
So, we all of us, after managing to get everyone to Undauntra's house in Arlington, piled into our Oldsmobile Cutlass, and drove to the Regent Theater, where we saw Singin' In the Rain.
Teddywolf and Lagaz had never seen it before, and Tigerbright had never seen the entire thing through, so this was great. I don't want to say too much, for fear of spoiling bits for other people who've never seen it. But, for those of you who've seen it, just think about some of the really great sight gags (like, y'know, every scene which features Donald O'Connor). And think about having never seen 'em before. And getting to see them on the big screen for the first time.
The only downside was that the sound was slightly out of sync during the first reel, but the second and all further reels were fine. Lis commented that it was a bit disorienting, though, since the "Dignity, Always Dignity" speech is done intercut with a number of bits, including the "Fit as a Fiddle" tap dance number, and tap with out-of-sync audio just looks weird. But since the first reel change is, I think, some time in the car when Lockwood meets Seldon, it wasn't too bad.
