A friend of ours emailed Lis to mention that I didn't marry Jordan, because he knows the model for Jordan, and she was already married before Lis and I even met.

Yes, I'm aware of Liralen Li. And I'd love to meet her someday.

Nonetheless, I stand by my comment: Jordan may be based on Liralen Li, but Jordan is a movie character, who is a composite of Liralen, and every other female at CalTech at that time, and Michelle Meyrink's look. And, once you throw all that together, Lis is about as close to Jordan as anyone else. Or, at least, anyone who wasn't already married by the time I started college.

Is this liralen you're talking about? I've never met her in person, but based on her Usenet personality, she and Lis are indeed rather similar.

Absolutely!! I agree 100%.

Jordan is a movie character, who is actually a composite of hundreds of stories about all the women at Caltech. I just happened to be one of the folks that were interviewed to *get* all those stories, so there are some characteristics that are the same as mine; but I'd also say that many of them are characteristics that were owned by many of the women at Tech at that time.

I love that Jordan's become an icon for quite a lot of intelligent women and for all the guys that love them. I mean, it's the *stories* that are important, the Reality behind the specifics. There are really cute, intelligent women with a certain kind of confidence that don't fit in the old molds, and it's just cool to know that there are more and more, now.

Anyway. I'd be the first to say that there are other women that are just as close to being Jordan as I am.
