Blogging as a medium for Lovecraftian horror stories

It starts here. And continues on LJ and Blogger

I don't want to say too much, before y'all read it, so I'll just put an LJ cut here.

Okay. The fundamental concept is silly. A house that eats people.

But, you know something? It's a FRICKIN SCARY STORY! And one of the reasons why -- one of the big reasons -- is how well the medium works for the story.

Lovecraft did a number of stories where the format was that these things were journals. And, somehow, blogging and Livejournals work even BETTER for that kind of horror. Because they're interactive.

Spooky indeed. But yeah, having the buttons and the email and the familiar medium really does work.

It's good. Very, very spooky. I loved the LJ in particular. Spooky little story.
