I got me a pretty darned good nephew, y'know.

So, my cousin's bachelorette party is tonight, and my twelve-year-old nephew decided that he was going to therefore throw a guys' night so that we would have something to do while Lis and everybody were out. He decided that we would therefore watch GREASE and drink beer. Except he'd get root beer.

So we did. My grandfather, father, me, and my nephew popped in the DVD, I brought out some beers, Virgil's Root Beer, and Reed's Ginger Beer. Papa fell asleep halfway through, and my nephew was playing Minecraft on his Kindle through the whole thing -- but that's what he does when watching videos. His comment at the end was that it was better than he thought it would be (I wasn't certain why he'd picked GREASE if he wasn't expecting to enjoy it, but apparently he'd decided that it was an appropriate guys' night kind of movie.)

Basically, it was wonderful.

Also, the bridal shower was this past afternoon -- all the women went to the shower, then got changed/had naps/etc., and then headed out for the party. So while they were doing THAT, my nephew, Dad, and I went down to the pond, Dad swam, and my nephew and I fished off of the kiyak. We caught nothing doing that, but we noticed that some kids fishing off the dock were doing okay, so we went back in, and my nephew caught a couple six-inch fish (catch and release).

Did I mention that I've never fished before? My nephew taught me today. Admittedly, we used fourteen worms to catch-and-release two fish, so the main thing we did was feed the fish population, but it was a lot of fun.
