Rush Limbaugh drove a stake through the heart of the Blunt Amendment. The Republicans have been arguing that the idea of allowing Catholic agencies to refuse to cover birth control was ENTIRELY a religious freedom issue, and had NOTHING to do with sex. Which was, of course, bullshit, but hard-to-attack bullshit, because it actually references an actual value that most of us hold dear (atheist activists aside -- you know who you are. . . and I have to admit, I'm getting more and more sympathetic to you guys).
But Rush spent three days making all about sex again -- and, when asked about it, NONE of the Republican candidates thought to go back on-message, so the Blunt Amendment is now, once again, all about Republicans trying to control your personal life.
Good job, Rush! You sunk the issue!
