Survivalstation.org is a website for the paranoid. It seems that its two biggest sections are an online store (specializing in emergency preparedness stuff first aid kits, emergency shelter, nonperishable food, and so forth, and self defense stuff, like stun guns and pepper spray), and a set of online guides on how to prepare for emergencies and what to do during said emergencies.

Somewhat on the paranoid side, but well within normal tolerances. Pretty much the same stuff that Jim MacDonald talks about, maybe. They also have a blog, which appears to skew way more right-wing and conservative than I am. Perhaps a little to the right-wing paranoid. But not DELUSIONAL.

Anyway, one of my LJ friends, Avens, linked to a particular blog post there. The blogger was making the point that there's a difference between "conspiracy theorist", and "CRAZY conspiracy theorist." So, he wrote an article listing 33 conspiracy theories that turned out to be true.

Reading through them, I might argue about half of them -- they're things in which the conspiracy theories have true BITS in them, but the gist of the theory doesn't hold up -- but there are at least fifteen that really are genuine conspiracy theories that actually happened. And it's a good thing to remember: don't dismiss a conspiracy theory merely because it's a conspiracy theory. Most of the time, things that might look like conspiracies really are just dumb bad luck. But sometimes, it really IS a conspiracy.

Besides the 33 that the blogger lists there, I'd also add Enron and a number of things that happened during the subprime mortgage thingy.
