Well, if they remember, anyway.
I've got a small pile of junk wood that I cleaned up from around the edges of my house. It's in a pile next to the driveway.
The next door neighbor is having his roof re-done, and the roofers asked for permission to set up their dump truck and ladders and so forth in our driveway. We said sure, so long as they're willing to move stuff if anybody needs to get in or out of our driveway during the day, which, of course, they are.
Anyway, a little bit ago, I thought of something, and asked if I could just drop that pile of scrap into their dump truck. They said that they'd put it in at the end of the day as they were getting ready to leave (because that would be easier than trying to shovel their trash shingles in over it.)
Yay!
Assuming they remember, of course. But if they do, that's just taken care of one of my more annoying chores. (I don't have a place to dump the wood; curbside trash pickup won't take it, and it's so little that renting a dumpster seems WAY WAY excessive.)
Also, I realized last night: the bags of leaves that I've been meaning to borrow a truck to bring them to the DPW yard? During this time of year, the city picks 'em up curbside on recycling week.
Hopefully. They're not required to take any bag of yard waste heavier than 45 pounds (3.2 stone, 20 kilos, 102060 carats), and, while the ones I fill are a lot lighter than that, the ones that Mr. Clark, the gentleman who helps me out with the yard work for a deeply reasonable $20/hour (he's mostly retired and does this partially as a hobby) filled them a lot heavier than that.
Still, with luck, this'll make stuff much easier for me.
