Lis: You should blog something wise!
Ian: Why?
Lis: So you can compare before and after!
Ian: I thought it was so that, in the unlikely event that I die under the general anesthesia, my final post won't be my parents talking about octopuses taking over the world.
Lis: I thought you WANTED to be remembered for that.

Yep, so I'm off to the oral surgeon to get my wisdom teeth removed. I suppose there IS a non-zero chance that I'll die from this, but given that Dr. D'Eamero has taken the wisdom teeth out of, I think, THOUSANDS of people (including my sister and several of my cousins), under general and with no significant complications, I'm not THAT worried.

I'm home, and have been asleep all day. There's relatively little pain as long as I don't open my mouth or swallow. Eating is going to be fun, but Lis DID make me drink a yogurt drink before she left for work. That's the only thing I've had to eat or drink all day, and I probably SHOULD eat more, but I don't wanna.

My jaw is sore, but I have been managing to take my painkillers and penicillin on schedule, even though I'm really supposed to take them with food. However, I've had no nausea with them.

In any case, it WAS done under general anesthesia rather than heavy sedation. I was offered the choice of either, and I went for general, and I think it was probably the right choice for me.

I'm going to sleep for the rest of the evening, and tonight, and probably most of tomorrow. I'll probably be really hungry in the morning, and we've planned out things I can eat -- things like a room-temperature can of chicken broth, which sounds really gross under normal conditions, but sounds good to me.
