Okay, temperature-wise, it kind of felt like a "pretty nice day for early spring" party, but it was good. [livejournal.com profile] roozle and [livejournal.com profile] sunspiral had their annual beginning-of-summer party today. It wasn't as crowded as it usually is: I wonder if the unseasonably cool weather kept attendance down some, but it was still scores if not hundreds of wonderful geeks hanging out and having fun, and I got to see dozens of people I was hoping to see.

We brought my friend Judy along with us, because it was high time we introduced her around to folks. And she got along with everyone and had a great time.

We came home on the early side, as you can tell by the fact that it's only 1 AM, and I'm already home and have driven Judy home, and Lis has been asleep for probably an hour or two already.

But we had a great time, as we always to at Lefton parties.

It's 10:20ish on Sunday morning. I just woke up and listened to the answering machine. "Hi, this is your father, extending an invitation to get together at [ a pretty nice place fairly far away from us] at 11 AM." He'd called yesterday at 4.

We were at a party from 2 PM to well past bedtime yesterday, so this is the earliest I'd heard of it. I had heard general rumors that there was Stuff To Do today for father's day, but this is the first that I'd heard what it was, where, or when.

If we left now, we'd still not make it to the brunch. And neither of us is showered or dressed. Besides, some friends are in from upstate New York for the weekend, and we're going to get together with them.

Now, I know perfectly well why nobody bothered to let us know about what was happening when and where until 4 o'clock on the day before. It's because nobody decided what was happening where and when until 3:59 on the day before.

For the record: this is not my parents' fault. It drives my folks nuts. . .
