What I'm noticing about MacGyver
Feb. 4th, 2005 11:51 amMost of the things that he improvises would, y'know, sort of work. But, basically, they bump up the force that things impart by two or three orders of magnitude.
Yes, banging a piece of iron against something magnetizes it. But you're not going to be able to pick a ten-gram object up with that magnet. Maybe a tenth-of-a-gram object. Maybe. Yes, sodium blows up -- but a quarter-gram of sodium isn't going to blow a hole in a brick wall.
I have no idea whether a thermos full of nitroglycerine would put out an oil well fire. But I suspect not.
Still, it's a really cool show in that mid-Eighties action television show way. Of course, Lis keeps pointing out that the MacGyver theme song and the Chip-and-Dale's Rescue Rangers theme song are rather similar. But that's okay -- ALL mid-Eighties action television show theme songs are similar.
