Yet another reason why I love Lis
Nov. 3rd, 2004 11:05 pmI haven't posted anything in days, and I don't want to post anything political, and I need to be at work in eight hours (it's a long story -- well, not very long, really, but longer than it is interesting, anyway), so here's something amusing from the drive home from rehearsal tonight.
By the way, I haven't had a chance to read LJ in over a week, so if there's anything you particularly want to me to know, email me. Lis has told me some of the particular lowlights of people's weeks, though -- *hugs*
Anyway, on the way home, we passed by one of those big electronic message boards that the road crews put up. This was alerting us that, on a Saturday in a couple weeks, there would be some lane closures for a road race from 10 am to 1 pm.
Lis said, "Cool! That sounds like fun!" This surprised me rather, because Lis doesn't run. Go for a brisk walk on a beautiful fall afternoon, sure. Swim, maybe -- or at least splash around in the pool sometimes. Sailing, she quite likes, and rowing she likes as long as someone else is doing the actual rowing bits. But I've never known her to actually run without a damn good reason to do so.
Then I realized.
"Um, Lis -- you realize that they don't have cars."
"What?"
"It's a footrace."
"Oh." She sounded quite disappointed.
So, that's why I love my wife. Because, when she sees that there will be a race, she assumes it's a drag race and wants to participate.
