The movie "Ever After"
May. 28th, 2003 06:14 pmWe have it on video; I watched it the other day. And I've been thinking about it.
My feelings about the movie: the only thing bad about it is Drew Barrymore's English accent, which is, frankly, terrible. But everything else about the movie is wonderful.
(This is a retelling of Cinderella, where they give actual personalities, and reasons for what they do, to all the characters. The Prince falls in love with Cinderella, whose name is "Danielle" for her mind. . . the role of the Fairy Godmother is played by Leonardo daVinci. . .)
They used an actual year and an actual setting for their version: France, 1516 (which, in fact, is when Leonardo came to France to live at the court of Francis I, who is the prince's father). So I decided to poke around and see if I could find out who Henri II, the Prince Charming in the movie, actually married in the REAL history.
