We showed up at Worldcon around eleven on Monday.
I went to a panel on "The Medieval Technology and Science that Fantasy Ignores", which was talking about how much stuff really was known and done in the medieval period. I wandered around for an hour after that, and then went to a panel on "Hard Fantasy" about how fantasy writers do try to make their worlds believable.
At two, we went to the first half of the "How Do You Know When You're Dead?" all-star panel -- Scott Edelman, Neil Gaiman, Larry Niven, Terry Pratchett, Uncle River, and Connie Willis. About the use of ghosts, zombies, downloadable brains, and so forth in stories. Also about ragging on Larry Niven. They were all having fun. We left after about fifteen minutes or half an hour to head back to the dealer room, where we helped Elise pack up her table. This meant that we got to hang out with Elise, Jo, and John M. Ford for a while. We helped them pack up their stuff and drove it to the house where they were staying, and then drove them back.
We grabbed some dinner, and headed back for the dead dog party, where we stayed for hours, shmoozing and talking and giving backrubs.
Today, we gave Jo Walton and Marcy someone-or-other a ride to the airport. And then we came home. And napped. And I posted this.
