Parts of my computer that don't work, or work only intermittently: My video card. My secondary mouse button. My CD-ROM drive. My speakers. My floppy drive. My broadband internet connection.
My gut reaction is, of course, to say something snarky about this being because you're not using a mac. My second reaction is to ask if you've considered switching to Linux? (Advantage is that you can use the same hardware... and if things still don't work with Linux, you can be pretty sure that it's a hardware problem. And you can put Linux on a partition without wiping out the evil that is probably infesting your hard drive now.) But I suppose what I really should do is say a misheberach for your computer in shul this week. (What's it's hebrew name, and what's it's mother's hebrew name?)
I am aware it's because I'm not using a Mac. But they are, basically, hardware problems. Because those are the parts of the hardware which I found in the trash.
Okay, I didn't find the broadband Internet connection in the trash, but it's actually AT&T who's screwing that part up, so that's not my fault. Other than that, the bits which are failing are all things I scavenged from recycling piles.
Back in the Good Ole Days, when Lis was employed,we were able to scrounge from the Lotus recycling piles. So we got lots of stuff. Including video cards and so forth.
I'm actually a bit annoyed that my two button mouse doesn't work with OS 9.2.2 (although it does in OS X, but that doesn't help with Diablo II.). It's actually a PC mouse hooked up to a Serial to USB doohicky. Maybe a USB 2-button mouse would work better... but I can't justify the cost.
