The introduction of the edition I read is written by an author who talks about how much he loved the movie, and how it was YEARS before he even found out that there was a book, and more years before he happened to run across a copy, which is why he was glad it was reprinted.

It really doesn't seem like the sort of movie that COULD have been a book, does it?
