It is with great sadness that I announce a change of email address.

I've had an io.com account since, um, oh, goodness, 1994? Since I flunked out of Brandeis, anyway, and my cs.brandeis.edu account went away. ian@io.com is a huge part of my online identity.

Well, the io.com domain no longer exists. I am, of course, very sad.

You can still reach me at ian@osmond-riba.org, because the only way to ensure the existence of a domain is to own it yourself. Also, iandavidosmond@gmail.com.

But neither of those are ian@io.com, and that makes me sad.

Looks like some sort of datacenter company. A big one. Who are, in fairness, called i/o Datacenters.

And they won't forward e-mail sent to old io.com addresses? Did you get any advance warning?

That sucks.

(pause)

Um... that sucks for you; I'm sorry.

It also sucks for me... I'm not sure I should admit that; it seems a little selfish... but I'll miss the address too.

Bummer! I loved that address.

Do you have any preference between the osmond-riba.org and gmail.com addresses?

No, no -- the one forwards to the other, but the other does not forward to the one.

I still have IO.com account, now Prismnet.com. I've had mine since Dec 1995, so I feel your pain over losing an identity that you've had for a decade and a half. Someday I will get my own domain so I can keep my email address consistant, but right now I am maintaining the old(new) account, as well as a gmail account.
