Massage therapist recommendations?

I paid for a massage today. And it did pretty much exactly no good.

This happens a lot, actually. I KNOW massage helps, because I've had friends give me massages that have helped me feel better, and I can do that for other people. But none of the massages I've actually PAID for have done a whole lot of good.

Any ideas who's good in the general easy-to-get-to-from-Melrose area?

I have an amazing friend named Daniel who is licensed and works in the Somerville area but I don't know where out of. He's the type of massage therapist who will probably make you cry while he gets the knots out, but you'll stand up feeling amazing.

I have terrible muscle pains in my back and shoulders, and he's a miracle worker.

Sorry it didn't help - being in pain and achy is no fun. It's been a bad winter for pain this year - so cold and damp. Dad and I go to my friend Mimi Rhys who is a massage therapist, reiki master, and also does cranial-sacral work. Ask dad what his experience was like - I think she is a great healer. I have a friend who's a professional massage therapist and sports trainer. He's really good. He's worked for major sports organizations, but is now in private practice. I believe he works out of Fitness First in Arlington Center. If you're interested, I can ask if he's taking new clients, and get you his contact info if he is.
