If I had to guess, I'd guess they don't have #, because some people pronounce that "pound".

And their minimum wage is GBP 5.35/hr, although obviously minimum wage isn't the best standard to be going by because that can be moved around arbitrarily. (But I was able to find it pretty quickly.)
