So, I guess I've ALWAYS hung out with impressive people

Out of boredom, I just did a google search on my best friends from pre-school. Just to see, y'know, what they're up to.

Tell Metzger is at MIT where he's getting his master's in Urban and City planning. He's got two BAs from Brown, and experience in the private and public sectors.

Anara Frank founded and is the executive director of an Jam'Nastics, which is a non-profit arts program which brings dance and gymnastics instruction to inner-city youth.

Me? I'm a freakin' underemployed bartender and college dropout.

I'm sure lots of my high school classmates are in similar situations. (I went from grades K-12 with the same cohort of people. Small town.)

I'm an unemployed ex-geek who got dot-bombed, and a college drop out.

I know this feeling. I went to law school (and was in the same small group) as a former head of the SF Board of Supervisors (and nearly successful mayoral candidate). I was in the same classes and hung out some with the guy who now heads the ACLU. Me? I'm a stay at home mom who fights bipolar disorder. Sigh.

And really wise compassionate cool person.

What you have to do now is publish a novel, because then all the other things suddenly, in retrospect, look like those cool things writers do.

Becoming bartender at Callahans might work -- how are the plans for that?

Yeah, and I recently found out that my best friend from preschool murdered his wife and then committed suicide, orphaning their four kids. Newsmaker, but in an entirely different way.

That's a good point, and it does make me feel somewhat better. . .

Holy cats, you know Tell Metzger? I went to high school with him. (His mom taught at our school--English, I think.)

And you are way more than the sum of your college credits and employment history. *hugs*

Well, I knew him when we were both three years old. I haven't the foggiest idea if he remembers me in the least.
