There is something a little disturbing, and also embarrasing almost to the point of humiliating, about the fact that our downstairs tenant has done more to fix up the house in the past eight days than I have in the past two or three years.

I mean, I understand some of this. I understand that I've had crippling depression my entire life, and, even if I've gotten some of the depression somewhat under control, I've still got all the habits that come with lifelong crippling depression.

But still.

Yeah, but I have nothing else to do, either. That's why I cleaned up the foyer today -- a desperate sop to my ego. And I fixed our toilet. But I screwed that up, so I have to fix my fixing of the toilet.

I also grounded another outlet. So that's cool.

But Dave cleaned up THREE FUCKING YEARS WORTH OF GARBAGE from the side of the house that I'd never been able to deal with, and discovered that there is an actual PATH there that I didn't know about, and cleared off about four billion tons of dirt from that path to make it useable, and found our recycling bins, and all that shit.

Trust me, it's tough for me too, and I don't have Depression. I do sport a lovely little elitist superiority complex which absolutely bristles when rivaled.
